Dolphin body found from Tripura River By Our CorrespondentAgartala, Jul 28, 2010 : The villagers recovered the body of a fresh water dolphin from the bank of River Gomuti in south Tripura yesterday.
Additional PCCF Dr AK Gupta said, the dolphin might have swum down the backwater from river Padma of Bangladesh to Tripura. It might have got suffocated and died here.
Officials here said that the dolphin was in bigger size-about eight feet long and weighing about 200 Kg and it belongs to Gangetic species.
The forest official brought the dolphin body in Sepahijala wildlife laboratory for investigation.
This is for the first time a dolphin was found in Tripura river.
