Free Chartered flight for CPMF in NEBy Our CorrespondentAgartala, Jul 31, 2010 : Ministry of Home Affairs has extended the charted plane service for the travel of Central Paramilitary Forces (CPMF) up to Agartala in six days a week, Airport Authority of India officials said here.
According to the report, the service for the CPMF were up to Imphal in Northeast and following the demands from the security forces the ministry had started air service from Agartala, Aizwal and Imphal airports to Kolkata in last week.
“From now on the army and paramilitary force jawans from the rest of the country will be able to fly to and from this region free of cost to facilitate quick and hassle free movement of troops from operational areas to major rail stations”, Officials said.
Assam Rifles has been designated as the nodal agency to coordinate the service in the region and BSF, CRPF and CISF personnel deployed in the state would be able to take full benefit of this newly launched facility.
Any CPMF and army personal could avail the service with valid proof of his eligibility without pre-booking, report said adding that due to poor connectivity the jawans had been facing serious problem in movement out of the region and as a result, most of the cases jawans would also even suffer from depression.
